いい夏休みを すごしてください!

If you haven’t seen this already…Thank you. Thank you for struggling through this awful semester where we were forced to take a communication-focused class and put it ‘online’. Thank you for graciously taking my cobbled-together lessons (that gradually evolved to my powerpoint beauties) and ‘learning’.
This isn’t the  year you wanted but it’s the one you got. You will all be stronger and more resilient because of it. For those of you in Grade 10 and 11 – I look forward to seeing you next year – in class in Japanese 11/12 or in the halls.
Have a great summer – stay safe…and we will see you in September…
いい夏休みを すごしてください!(Have a good summer!)

Before you read – some of you have either not completed the story quizzes OR posted your story preference in the Q’s channel. Please do that…..it’s part of last week’s assignment..

This week your task is to…post on Teams…IN THE NEW あのね。。Channel.  (Sensei has already posted there! ) Yes….that’s it….read what you ‘must do’ and thank yourself for surviving this ‘shift’ to online. It has not been easy…it is the exact opposite of what my class is supposed to be like and you guys were great (and so forgiving as I learned to post better lessons…) So ONE…..LAST……TIME…here’s the link to the last assignment

Japanese 11 – 今週の日本語

Thank you…thank you for surviving my shift to ‘online learning’ for a class whose entire point is face-to-face communication! You have been terrific, and patient….and finally…just one final thing…I’m asking you to look back at the story you read (or one of the stories that you read) and prepare a 5 sentence summary. Use your skills in joining sentences together to summarize either 「屁っこきよめ」or 「むじな」….lots of hints on how to do this in the file (link is here!) ….がんばって!

Note – Sensei will be having online office hours on the Teams General Channel on Wednesday  this week from 1:00-1:45. This is your opportunity to ask questions as you complete this work, check something out…video and/or audio – whichever you prefer…

Japanese 12 今週の日本語

It’s that time…graduation…and in Japan one of the popular graduation songs is 「涙そうそう・なだそうそう」 often translated as “And the tears fall”…
It’s a beautiful song initially made popular by the singer 夏川りみ.(なつかわ りみ)

But my favourite version is by the Okinawan band BEGIN…which includes traditional Okinawan instruments. Here’s the video and the lyrics… Nadasousou

.Here’s the task again……Your task – due Wednesday June 17 is here….

Questions? Concerns? How do you? I’m online on Wednesdays…or use the “Q’s” channel or email! Or you can ask next Friday if you are in class!

Now it’s time for you to think about – and write about – both. ‘My favourite season’ and “If I went to Japan I would go in…”. This is an assessed piece of writing.
